Target Audience
Focusing on the senior phase, for grade 7 learners in the context of South Africa, who are in the process of developing their language proficiency skills in English as a home language.
As per the CAPS English curriculum, learners in grade 7 expected to have the ability to show their understanding of the different type of texts, whether spoken, written, and/or visual, demonstrating interpretation of meaning, expressing ideas clearly, and accurately and creatively using language in their academic and social contexts.
This website does not focus only on the learners though, it also targets the English Teachers who need digital tools and ideas for their lessons that will help with language instruction that is supportive, interactive, and inclusive, which effectively aligns with the 21st Century skills such as digital literacy.
This website’s goal is to create an engaging digital resource that is going to be of great support for learners and teachers in the teaching and learning in a technologically enhanced pedagogy for the English language.
Aims

To use creative tools for teaching and learning English that are digital, which will be focusing on improving participation and autonomy for learners.

To show the effective ways in which the principles of English Language Teaching (ELT) can be applied for an environment that is online, focusing on interactive learning.

To provide resources that are multimodal for catering to the diversity that we have in South African schools, effectively promoting inclusivity and accessibility.


Objectives

Developing the skills that all leaners should have for the English language which include reading, writing, speaking, and listening, through interactive lesson materials like videos, quizzes, and games.

Provide learner support and teacher support materials that will be in alignment with the CAPS document’s learning outcomes which include lesson plans, assessment activities, and answer keys for the teachers.

Encourage the learners to develop their thinking to be critical and creative with the use of project-based, communicative tasks that are going to promote learners to have some collaboration and be self-expressive.

Demonstrate the ways in which we can achieve support for language awareness, linguistic diversity and language integration for learning the content through digital pedagogy.
